Marcel Solé
I am an enthusiastic English teacher with high aspiration for students, committed to enable them to realise their learning objectives. I’ve been preparing students for the official Cambridge Exams with great passion and awesome results. I know all the do’s and don’ts to pass these exams with flying colours and I want to give you a lot of useful tips. I love teaching and I make my students enjoy the process. Learning can be fun! I have lived in London, Newcastle, Ankara and Barcelona where I have worked as a language teacher and Education Adviser in English academies. I hold a Professional Teaching Certificate (SOC), an International Certificate in Financial English (Cambridge Assessment English), a Certificate of Proficiency in English (Cambridge Assessment English) and a Diploma in Financial Translation.
My love for teaching is demonstrated in my students’ exam results; for the last 8 years, an average of 90% of my students have got their official Cambridge certificates (KET, PET, FCE and CAE).
Matthew Fisher
Hi, I am Matthew Fisher. I was born and raised in southern California. Growing up in a multicultural environment I always had many languages around me. Spanish, Chinese, Japanese were common to hear. However, I didn’t see the need to speak another language myself. Everyone spoke English! Later in high school, as a requirement to enter university, I had to take a Spanish language course. I didn’t take the course seriously and did poorly, passing with the lowest mark. I thought, “What’s the point of learning Spanish if everyone speaks English?” Oh, the ignorance of youth!
Little did I know that just five years later I would be living and studying in another language. I went to university at Soka University of America in southern California, an institution where more than half of the students were from other countries. The multiculturalism that I experienced growing up was magnified as I quickly made close friends whose first or even second language was not English. I saw how incredibly intelligent friends struggled and overcame the linguistic challenges that studying in a foreign language can bring.
In my third year of university, I studied in Barcelona and fell in love with the city and a woman. This time it was me who struggled to speak and study in the Spanish language. I realized on an emotional level that knowing a language empowers an individual opening doors to culture, work, love, and a new way of seeing the world. I came out of my experience a changed person. At the end of my time studying in Barcelona, I decided I would return to that magical city and teach English.
More than 15 years and thousands of hours teaching English later I have successfully helped countless students develop their skills in English. I have taught numerous test preparation courses, general English, as well as business English courses. I currently work with the Occupational Service of Catalonia (SOC) helping unemployed people learn English.
